What to pack in your holiday medicine bag
Its that time of the year again! While some of us are already well into the holiday season, it is important to ensure that you are prepared. Often there is so much excitement about the holidays and if you are going away there are some crucial items that you should not be without. We all look forward to the Christmas break and having some well deserved relaxation time – but anything can happen and being prepared is the first step to a successful getaway!
We have compiled a list of the most important items to pack into your holiday medicine travel bag. One of our tips is to pack according to your holiday type for example if you are going to the seaside things like sunscreen and after-sun are crucial. If you are planning a camping getaway items such as insect repellent and stomach medication should be on top of the list.
Here is a list of general items that should be brought along no matter what type o vacation you have planned.
1: Pain medication:
No matter where you go, the need for pain medication may arise. Ensure that you pack your pain medication in your holiday medicine bag
2: Stomach medication:
As much as we want to enjoy our holiday, there may be a need for stomach meds such as anti diarrhea and stomach cramp medications
Cuts and scrapes happen – on holiday or not, so make sure these are a staple in any medicine bag not only your holiday pack.
4: Anti itching cream / lotion:
This is something you do not want to be without if the need arises. Travelling to unfamiliar destinations has its pros and cons. Your skin may not be used to the environment or there may be insect issues that cause skin irritations.
5: Insect Repellent:
If you will be spending lots of time outside this will come in very handy. Especially necessary if you are embarking on a wilderness or camping vacation.
6: Antibacterial gel or lotion
To be applied on minor cuts and scrapes
7: Electrolyte replacements:
Especially for the morning after some indulging like that new years eve party you have planned! Should there be a stomach issue this is highly important to replace the electrolytes that have been lost and re hydrate your body.
8: Wound cleaning supplies:
Such as alcohol wipes or swabs, gauze and medical tape
These are the staples that we feel are crucial to have on your holiday – hopefully there will be no need to make use of them whilst on holiday but rather be prepared to avoid unnecessary issues.
We hope this helps you and we wish you safe travels over this festive period!
